Including generalised anxiety, social anxiety and panic — finding room to breathe and steady the spin.
Clinical psychology in Townsville with Jenna Stoeckel — a calm, non-judgmental space to explore, reflect and find your footing, at your own pace.
Welcome to Psychology Grove
A grove is a place of shelter, growth and resilience — much like the space we create together.
Psychology Grove was inspired by a love of nature and the deep sense of calm, strength and connection it provides. A grove — a collection of trees growing side by side — offers shade, shelter and protection.
It’s a place where individuals and families can find guidance, understanding, and the reassurance that they are not alone on their journey.
Grounded in care, nurtured by experience, and growing together.
Meet your psychologist
I’m a registered Clinical Psychologist based in Townsville, North Queensland. I completed my Bachelor of Psychology in 2011, worked across a range of settings, then returned to James Cook University to complete my Master of Clinical Psychology.
Since then I’ve worked with clients across the lifespan — children, adolescents and adults — in government, educational, community and private-practice settings. My aim for every client is a safe, supportive environment where you can explore, reflect and learn about yourself while feeling empowered, heard and understood, without judgment.
My approach involves openness, empathy, warmth and the development of strength-based strategies for lasting change. In our sessions, we’ll work together to find the therapeutic approach that suits you best while supporting your own goals.
How I can help
Every person’s story is different. These are some of the areas I most often walk through with clients — but if what you’re carrying isn’t listed here, please still reach out.
Including generalised anxiety, social anxiety and panic — finding room to breathe and steady the spin.
Perinatal mental health and the very real challenges of parenting, in a space free of judgment.
Making sense of loss and learning to carry it — gently, and at your own pace.
Quieting the harsh inner critic and building a steadier, kinder sense of self-worth.
University, school and study pressures — managing the load without losing yourself in it.
Workplace concerns and burnout — rebuilding energy, boundaries and balance.
Support through major life changes and stressful transitions, big or small.
That’s completely okay. Reach out and we’ll talk it through together.

Your first session
Reaching out can feel daunting — so here’s exactly what to expect, with no surprises.
Ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan to access Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions a year. You’re also welcome to attend privately, no referral needed.
Complete the enquiry form or call. I’ll let you know current wait times and availability, and answer any questions before you commit to anything.
A relaxed, unhurried conversation to understand what’s bringing you in and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure and nothing you “should” already have figured out.
We’ll choose the approach that fits you and set goals at your pace — in-clinic on Wednesdays & Thursdays, or via Telehealth from anywhere in Australia.
Waiting on a referral? I aim to contact all new referrals within 5–10 business days. If your GP has sent one and you haven’t heard within 10 business days, please send a quick email or use the form below to follow up — occasionally referrals don’t reach us, and I’d hate for you to be left waiting.
Fees & rebates
No hidden costs or surprises — so you can focus on what matters. As a Clinical Psychologist, sessions attract the higher Medicare rebate.
How rebates work: you pay the full session fee, then Medicare refunds the rebate to you — the “gap” is the difference. A GP Mental Health Treatment Plan is needed to access Medicare rebates. Private health extras can’t be claimed together with Medicare for the same session.
Cancellations: life happens — we simply ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to change or cancel, or a fee may apply. Feeling unwell? Telehealth over Zoom is a great way to keep your session (and your progress) on track. Individual circumstances are always considered.
Fees reflect an increase effective July 2025. For reference, the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for a standard consultation (2025–26) is $318; this is a recommendation only, and each psychologist sets their own fee. Please confirm current Medicare amounts when you book.

Contact
Fill in the form and I’ll aim to get back to you within five business days with the current wait time and whether appointments are available.
A note on availability. Psychology Grove is currently accepting a limited number of new referrals. To ensure I can provide high-quality, consistent care to existing clients, appointments are offered based on current availability — so there may be a wait for an initial appointment, and at times I may temporarily pause new referrals when my caseload reaches capacity. Please enquire below and I’ll happily let you know the current wait time and whether appointments are available. If I’m unable to offer an appointment within a reasonable timeframe, I’ll do my best to suggest alternative supports. Thank you for your understanding as I maintain a sustainable practice with thoughtful, personalised care for every client.
